JOSEPH N. HOSTENY, III
Joe Hosteny is one of the few attorneys nationwide who is a former federal prosecutor, a Registered Professional Engineer and an intellectual property litigator. Joe received his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering degree from Marquette University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from DePaul University Law School in Chicago.
He served aboard a nuclear submarine, the USS Sturgeon (SSN 637) under Admiral Hyman Rickover. During his naval career, he was decorated by the Secretary of the Navy. In addition, Joe was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois from 1976 to 1983, which gives him a particular interest in, and understanding of, the Economic Espionage Act of 1996.
Licensed to practice law in numerous courts throughout the country, Joe is also a multi-engine, instrument-rated pilot. He has written numerous articles for professional publications, including Litigation Magazine, Corporate Counsel Magazine, Assembly Engineering Magazine, American Medical News and IP Today, where he writes a monthly column, as well as for consumer publications such as Inventors' Digest. Joe was featured in an article in the November 1999 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine, and was recently named to the Board of Editors of Patent Strategy & Management (a monthly publication of American Lawyer Media), for which he also writes periodic guest columns.
